Principal’s message

Dear parents, staff and students,

I would like to welcome all parents, students and teachers to 2020 at Sirius College Eastmeadows Secondary School Girls Campus. I would like to take this opportunity to extend my warmest welcome to our new staff members, Year 7 students, newly enrolled students, and their parents. I wish all students and teachers a very successful, fruitful and joyful school year. At Sirius College, our aim is to nurture a generation of students who are going to be role models and socially responsible Australian citizens. Knowledge and moral values are the most important features to be able to make positive contributions in society as a human being and I believe only these people can bring peace and happiness to humanity.

First, I would like to introduce our management team; Mrs Sebnem Golbasi (Year 7 and 8 Coordinator), Ms Gordana Janev (Year 9 and 10 Coordinator), Ms Inass Fayad (Year 11 and 12 Coordinator), Mr Tarik Terzi (Teaching and Learning Coordinator), Ms Denise Rimoni (Student Support Coordinator), and Mrs Ruveyda Ozturk (Pastoral Care and Wellbeing Coordinator). I also would like to thank our entire teaching team and Pastoral Care staff for sacrificing their lunchtimes, after school time, Saturdays and even term and summer holidays in order to provide not only academic support but also values education to all of our students. Our dedicated teachers should be the first contact person regarding your concerns about your child, followed by the coordinators.

On Thursday, 13th of February, all Year 10 and 12 students from all Sirius campuses attended the Last Roll Call, which serves to inspire and inform students about what recent alumni have decided to do. All attending alumni shared their future plans. Recent graduates took to the stage and announced their future plans and share their tips for VCE. I would like to thank our guest speaker, Mr Tarang Chawla, for his wonderful speech. Also, Special thanks to Scott and Esma and all other Careers Advisors for organizing this event very successfully and smoothly.

We have already completed week 4 and students are nearly back into their study routine. It is very important that students have an organised daily schedule to maintain successful academic, social and behavioural performance. Education is a lifelong journey. Every little step counts. Listening to the teacher in class carefully, following up the classroom and school rules, completing tasks on time, participating in Pastoral Care activities and extracurricular activities and doing homework regularly are just some of the important steps that we must take. These little steps and efforts will make a huge difference at the end of this journey, especially during VCE, in university years and beyond. Therefore, I would highly encourage parents to follow up their child’s academic, social and behavioural progress closely and ensure that students have a good study timetable, healthy diet, enough physical activity and a good night’s sleep. With your positive attitude and cooperation, I believe, we will be able to improve our students’ academic, social and behavioural performance.

I wish everyone a very successful school year full of joy and happiness.
